Aftercare
Extension Aftercare Guide
WHAT TO DO
• Shampoo twice when washing.
• Focus on cleansing underneath extension connections to prevent buildup and itchiness.
• Wash 1–2 times per week or as advised.
• Install a shower filter to reduce mineral buildup and colour change.
• Hold extensions at base while brushing; start at ends and work upward.
• Use a soft bristle or loop brush. Brush morning/night and before bed.
• Apply a deep treatment weekly and leave-in conditioner after washing.
• Use light oil daily through mid-lengths and ends only.
• Always use heat protectant. Keep tools under 180°C / 350°F.
• Loosely plait hair or low ponytail before bed. Use a silk pillowcase.
• Avoid pools/ocean where possible. If wet, rinse and wash immediately.
• Pat dry with towel, do not rub. Rough dry before styling.
• Use salon-grade products only.
• Return for maintenance every 6–8 weeks.
SUN & SUNSCREEN PROTECTION
Wash hands after applying sunscreen before touching extensions. Avoid contact with hair. Ingredients known to stain/discolour extensions include: Avobenzone, Octocrylene, Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Homosalate, Titanium Dioxide sprays/powders, and DHA self-tan ingredients.
WHAT NOT TO DO
• Do not apply conditioner or oils near roots/bonds.
• Do not go to bed with wet hair.
• Avoid high ponytails or buns for first 1–2 weeks after installation.
• Do not rub hair vigorously when washing/drying.
• Never swim with tangled hair.
• Do not delay maintenance beyond eight weeks unless advised.
• Avoid protein-heavy products unless prescribed.
• Do not use supermarket/chemist products with hidden silicones/detergents.
• Do not bleach, colour or tone extensions at home.
• Do not use aerosol sunscreen or fake tan near hair.
A FINAL NOTE
Your extensions are an investment — and when cared for correctly, they’ll stay as soft, glossy, and beautiful as the day they were installed.
Think of this not just as maintenance, but as a ritual of care for your hair.
